Two new tutorials PDF Print E-mail

I've just posted two new tutorials. The first is just a quick demo of the Sweep feature using a guide curve, reinforcing a couple points such as how to make sure your guide curve is touching the profile sketch, and how to define the plane for the profile sketch. The second tutorial is a bit more advanced, and discusses two ways of dealing with multiple features being based on the same master sketch.

Modeling Exercise 2.1 corrected PDF Print E-mail
Written by Ryan Olson
Monday, 12 February 2007
As we discovered on Saturday, the kumiko spacing measurements on modeling exercise 2.1 were incorrect in the original drawings. This has now been corrected, and updated PDF/eDrawings files have been posted. This is only for the sake of completeness, and it's not necessary to change your model if you've already completed the assignment. Those who are still working on the assignment should use the corrected measurements.

Picardie glass demo PDF Print E-mail

ImageHere is an eDrawings file for the picardie glass that I demonstrated in class. This is not an assignment, but you may wish to try to reproduce it as an exercise. This will reinforce your skill with the revolve, cut, and circular pattern features.

Also, in class I mentioned that a sketch line could be used as your axis for a Circular Pattern. This in fact turned out to be incorrect; the feature seems to want an Axis (reference geometry) instead. Remember that you can define an Axis as the intersection of two planes (Insert | Reference Geometry | Axis).
