As you know, SFSU is hosting this year's Bay Area Student Mixer. SFSU IDSA needs help running the event, so I'm offering 5 points extra credit to those who volunteer. Interested students should contact Michael Kim (

) to coordinate. Volunteers are needed for Thursday night and Friday late morning set-up, as well as bartenders for the event itself. The mixer is on Friday 3/30, with the portfolio review from 2-6pm followed by a reception and exhibit from 6-10pm. All students are strongly encouraged to attend, even if you are unable to volunteer to help. Additional details at the event website. |

I will be reviewing all of the assignments to date for a midterm evaluation at the end of March. All of your assignments should be uploaded to your FTP directory by the end of the day on Saturday, March 31. See the FTP Guide for information on accessing your FTP directory and how to organize your folders. It is critical that you keep your FTP directory organized in a way that will enable the instructor to easily identify your assignments. This is will be your midterm evaluation, and will count for a significant portion of your grade. Even if you missed the original due dates for assignments, you're still better off getting them done for the midterm evaluation. Assignments from the first half of the semester will not count after the midterm evaluation. The absolute deadline is March 31, 11:59 PM. No excuses! Students may wish to refer to the checklist form that will be used to grade these assignments. Note that in some cases points will be deducted for assignments that were not completed by the original due date. |

Since I realize that everyone is busy these days with various midterm projects and deadlines, I've decided to add another week to the speaker design and rendering assignment. Originally your model and rendering were due this Saturday (3/24) but I'll extend that to the following Saturday (3/31). Do keep in mind, however, that your final PDF for the PhotoWorks Exploration Project will also be due that day, in addition to the uploading of all your previous work to the FTP site. The 3/31 deadline will not be extended, so plan your time accordingly. There will not be any new homework assignments next week, although I may offer an extra credit model. As a reminder, your draft PDFs for the PhotoWorks assignment are due this week (3/24) so that I can review them in class and provide feedback for revisions. It is very important that you have your drafts ready, since you won't have another chance to get my feedback before the final due date. |

Three new tutorials have been posted this week. The first two will relate directly to next week's speaker design assignment, and cover the Split and Save Bodies feature, as well as the Rib feature. The third summarizes the settings that you should use when setting up a final rendering to a file, to ensure maximum image quality. |
